Event Purpose We have a few goals for this event:

Strengthen our partnership between the Playful Health Technology Lab at Northern Arizona University and Hozhoni
Get the word out to the disabled community in the greater Flagstaff area about the work we are doing
Provide a free and exciting field trip exclusively for Hozhoni clients, staff, and clients' families with delicious food, lots of giveaways, and fun games
Hear directly from the community how to improve our existing demos and gather ideas for what new games for health we should begin developing
Share insights from the event through news shared with Hozhoni and research publications to academic communities

Consent Form (click to download): This informed consent form gives our researchers permission to publish papers about the demos and event. No personally identifiable information will be included in any resulting research publications. This event is funded by research grants, so it is important to us that we are able to publish resulting papers that include data from as many participants as possible. All are welcome to participate in the research, including clients, staff, and families, so please fill out this form for each person. Participating in the research is not a requirment to participate in the event—we will not include data from anyone who does not sign this informed consent in resulting publications. Media Release (click to download): A team of Northern Arizona University's marketing and communications department want to write a news article about the event, which will be shared with Hozhoni after the event. Please complete this form, so you can be included in the press release.

Schedule

10 - 11 am CHECK IN: Participants arrive and check in at the welcome table outside of Humphrey's room at the High Country Conference Center. Participants recieve an article of clothing and a swag bag with the Playful Health Technology Lab logo. Participants turn in their Consent Form and Media Release forms. Participants recieve their Gameorama Passport (see below). Participants fill in a quick demographic survey. Participants are free to explore any of the demos.

10 am - 3 pm DEMOS: Participants can try out any or all of the demos in any order they wish. Each demo will have a playtesting component and a workshopping component where you can share your ideas on how to improve the technology. Each demo station will be positioned around the outside perimeter of the room. Traffic light signals will tell you which stations are currently open for new people. At each station you will scan your passport and you will get a sticker to put in your passport. Each station will have a special giveaway you can take home.

11 am - 2 pm LUNCH BUFFET: At the center of the room there will be an open all-you-can-eat buffet with pizza, chicken tenders, Navajo taco bar, and salad. We will have a blender availible to purée food. We will have gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan options availible. The beverage station will have Thick-It availible.

Gameorama Passport

At the welcome table, everyone will be given a passport with seven pages—one for each demo. Each page will have a place for a sticker you can collect. Each demo station will have a place for you to scan your passport. The passport will have an NFC sticker on the back, which we will use to log attendance at each station. When you check in, we will log your passport with your name, whether you signed each form, and your demographic survey. The passport is what we will use to keep track of who we can include in publications, so please do not lose it! The passport is yours to take home as a souvenir.

Motor skills are an important facilitator for quality of life. As many as 87% of autistic individuals experience difficulties associated with motor skills, but only 32-13% of children with autism received movement therapies such as physical and recreational therapies. Because of this, we began research on a video game-based intervention to encourage intrinsic motivation for autistic children in physical therapy. We began by interviewing 9 clinicians, then we did co-design with 5 clinicians and 3 autistic children and their families, and next, we are testing our ideas with our first demo at the Hozoni event!
